Saxophonist, composer and producer Andy Snitzer was born and raised in Philadelphia. After he had learned the clarinet, he switched to the sax when he was 15. While he was studying music at the University of Miami, he was discovered by Bob James and was emerging as a sought-after session musician soon. At the same time, he earned his MBA at New York University, landing a position at J.P. Morgan Investment. In 1994, he released his first solo album. Throughout his multi-faceted career he was touring with artists/bands like Billy Joel, Paul Simon, Sting, Chris Botti or Jeff Lorber Fusion. And he was joining the Rolling Stones’ famed Voodoo Lounge and Bridges to Babylon tours. Andy’s latest album, ‘Higher’, offers a richly textured, melodically, rhythmically and atmospherically eclectic and vibey journey through a soundscape that has it all - tight and brassy, in the pocket funk, sensual romantic balladry, bluesy old school soul-jazz, balmy and exotic island and Bossa nova flavors and trippy, film score lush atmospheric expressions.
