Guitarist Adam Hawley is known for his lithe, groove-oriented approach to contemporary jazz and R&B. A native of Oregon, he started taking piano lessons per his mother’s request, and then adding guitar lessons a year later. As a teenager, he toured with a bluegrass ensemble, and led his own blues band. In 2002, Adam relocated to Los Angeles and eight years later, he completed a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Studio/Jazz guitar at the University of Southern California. Since graduating, the gifted performer has played in a variety of live and studio settings with artists such as Natalie Cole, Jennifer Lopez, Dave Koz, Rick Braun, Gerald Albright, Manhattan Transfer, and many more. The abundance of live and session opportunities – apart from also teaching at various institutes and colleges – kept him busy, although he had originally planned to record a solo album in 2005. But then came 2016, and his debut record was finally released. Already the first single “35th St.” (ft. Eric Darius on Saxophone) had the longest run at #1 on Billboard in 2016 (5 weeks).
